About Poetry Cove

These Terms govern your use of Poetry Cove (poetry-cove.com). Poetry Cove is currently operated as a personal and learning-oriented project.

Operator: 82 Degrees, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Contact: hello [at] poetry-cove [dot] com.

Eligibility and acceptable use

You agree to use Poetry Cove lawfully and responsibly.

  • Do not violate applicable laws or third-party rights.
  • Do not attempt unauthorized access to systems or data.
  • Do not interfere with service availability or security.
  • Do not submit malicious code, spam, or abusive content.
  • Do not use automated scraping or extraction methods that exceed reasonable access without permission.

Intellectual property and content rights

Poetry Cove currently sources poetry metadata/content from the PoeTree corpus, the DBNL public-domain Dutch poetry archive (dbnl.org, CC0-1.0), and the Project Gutenberg English archive, applying internal rights checks to support lawful availability.

For jurisdictions where Poetry Cove provides full-poem availability under public-domain status, Poetry Cove applies a baseline life-of-author plus 70 years policy unless stricter local law or another lawful basis applies.

Even where content appears on Poetry Cove, rights may vary by jurisdiction and by source.

Unless explicitly stated, Poetry Cove does not grant ownership of site content, software, branding, or compilations.

Personal use and restrictions

You may use Poetry Cove for personal, non-exclusive use, subject to these Terms.

If you need broader licensing or commercial reuse permissions, contact Poetry Cove.

  • Do not republish large portions of site content as your own product.
  • Do not remove attribution or rights notices where provided.
  • Do not use Poetry Cove outputs in ways that infringe copyright, moral rights, privacy, or other legal protections.

User inputs and generated responses

If you submit text prompts or other inputs, you confirm you have rights to submit that input and remain responsible for legality.

Generated responses may be imperfect, incomplete, or unsuitable for specific purposes.

Poetry Cove uses third-party AI/model providers, including ElevenLabs for audio synthesis (Siren audio feature). Model behavior and output quality may change over time.

Generated text may resemble existing works or contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. You are responsible for validating outputs before relying on, publishing, or commercializing them.

Poetry Cove is provided for informational and creative exploration only and does not provide legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice.

Poetry Cove may apply automated or manual safety controls and may limit, block, or remove prompts, outputs, or access where needed to enforce law, policy, or service integrity.

External links and feedback forms

Poetry Cove may include links to third-party websites and tools, including an external feedback form that may open in a new tab.

Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Poetry Cove is not responsible for third-party content, policies, or practices.

Availability and changes

Poetry Cove may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, including poem availability, ingestion sources, and language/country coverage.

Poetry Cove does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Disclaimers

Poetry Cove is provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Poetry Cove makes no warranty that AI-generated outputs are accurate, complete, non-infringing, or fit for any specific purpose.

Poetry Cove disclaims implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement, except where such disclaimers are not permitted.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Poetry Cove and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from use of the service.

This includes claims arising from AI-generated or AI-assisted outputs, including alleged inaccuracies, omissions, or rights-related disputes.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the minimum extent permitted by applicable law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Poetry Cove and its operators from claims, liabilities, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from misuse of the service or violation of these Terms.

Anthologies and user-created collections

DRAFT — pending owner review. The clauses in this section describe the Harbour anthologies feature and are provided for review before publication.

Signed-in users may create named collections ("Anthologies") that organise and arrange references to works available in Poetry Cove's corpus. An Anthology is a curated arrangement of references and a small amount of user-provided text (such as a collection name and description); it is not a republication of the underlying poem text.

The works referenced in an Anthology are drawn from Poetry Cove's existing corpus and are made available under the same public-domain and availability framework described in these Terms and in the Content Rights, Fair Use, and Availability Policy. Creating an Anthology does not grant you ownership of, or any additional rights in, the referenced works, the corpus, or Poetry Cove's compilation.

You are responsible for the content you provide when creating an Anthology, including its name, description, and any display name you choose to show. You agree not to use this content to:

  • Infringe copyright, moral rights, privacy, publicity, or other legal protections.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
  • Include unlawful, abusive, deceptive, hateful, or otherwise prohibited material.
  • Suggest endorsement by, or affiliation with, Poetry Cove, any author, or any third party where none exists.

You retain responsibility for your user-provided text. By creating an Anthology, you grant Poetry Cove a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, and reproduce that user-provided text as needed to operate the feature, including on any sharing page you choose to enable.

Poetry Cove may, at its discretion and to the extent permitted by law, review, restrict, unpublish, or remove an Anthology or its user-provided content where it appears to violate these Terms, applicable law, or Poetry Cove's policies, or where required for service integrity. Poetry Cove does not pre-screen user-created content and is not obliged to monitor it.

Sharing Anthologies

DRAFT — pending owner review.

Anthologies are private by default. You may choose to make an individual Anthology shareable via an unlisted link. Unlisted means the Anthology is not listed in public directories and the page is marked to discourage search-engine indexing, but anyone who has the link can view it. You should treat an unlisted link as semi-public and share it only with people you intend to give access.

You can disable sharing for an Anthology at any time, after which the link will no longer display the collection. Poetry Cove cannot retract copies of a link, screenshots, or content that others may have already accessed or saved while sharing was enabled.

When you enable sharing, the display name you have chosen for your profile (for example, a first name or a pen name) is shown on the shared page to identify you as the curator. By enabling sharing, you consent to that display name being shown publicly to anyone with the link. You are responsible for ensuring that the display name you choose does not infringe the rights of others and is appropriate for public display. You can change or update your display name from your profile; changes apply going forward.
