About Poetry Cove

Last updated: 2026-05-01

A small welcome

Poetry Cove is a passion project by 82 Degrees, and very much a work in progress.

We built it because we love poems, and because a poem can meet you in ordinary life: on a good morning, on a hard day, in the middle of a question you cannot quite name yet.

How we read

Our approach is intentionally non-academic. We are not here to test anyone, and we are not here to flatten poems into right answers.

We are here for the human conversation around a poem: what it opens, what it unsettles, what it comforts, and what it lets you carry forward.

If Poetry Cove has a voice, we hope it feels warm, companionable, and curious.

Where the poems come from

To help people discover poems across languages, Poetry Cove currently draws from two sources: the PoeTree corpus — a large, carefully assembled collection spanning eleven European languages — and the DBNL public-domain Dutch poetry archive (dbnl.org, CC0-1.0). Together they cover twelve languages: Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, and Spanish.

It gives us a rich starting place for discovery while we continue shaping Poetry Cove. We only surface full poems where we believe they sit comfortably in the public domain; everything else lives behind a gentler door.

Still becoming

Poetry Cove is still evolving. Some features are early, some are being refined, and some are still sketches in the margin.

We are learning in public, improving step by step, and trying to keep the experience gentle and useful as it grows.

If something feels off, or there is a poem you wish you could find here, we would love to know.

Collaborate with us

If you are interested in collaborating, we would genuinely love to hear from you.

Writers, readers, educators, translators, designers, and builders are all welcome to reach out.
